Sunday Coffee & Blog Hop #2

What’s up? What’s up? Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Here in London the weather is finally picking up a bit. Nothing as crazy as sunshine for days, that’d be a tad too much I imagine… Where would it all end? But it’s not outright ass freezing anymore, and in fact, yesterday I was walking around without a jacket, so at least we have that going for us.

What are your plans for Sunday? I will probably go to the gym, make some salmon & dill crepes for lunch and then just chill for the day with my book.

In the meantime, grab your morning beverage, and come with me to check out what’s happened around the blogosphere lately.

What would you do if you witnessed a murder, but nobody believed you? Diana @ A Haven For Book Lovers examined this, and other intriguing scenarios some fictional characters had to face lately, and how she would feel if she walked in their shoes. I must say, I’m forever oblivious, so I probably wouldn’t have noticed fuck all…

I’m a mood reader. I can never stick to any TBR, and it’s rare when I know what I will read next. However, I found that I’m experiencing far less reading slumps than people around me, and I think it’s partly to do with not having a plan to stick to, and the chance to fail. The life of a mood reader is not all carelessness and rainbows though, as Kristina pointed out the other day.

Do you love reading? (Well, of course you do!) Do you want to help authors succeed? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you might want to check out Melanie’s post and get acquainted with Swoon Reads! It seems cool!

In a similar vein, Annie made a list of things you can do to support your favourite authors without breaking the bank.

I must say, I struggle with book ratings quite often. Was it a 3? A 5? Are two books rated 4 equally good? Sometimes I feel it’s not the case. (A.k.a. not all four stars books were created equal) Sarah @ Written Word Worlds presented a solution to this problem, and I wholeheartedly approve her idea to replace star ratings with gifs. YES, PLEASE!

I’ve read A Little Life a couple years ago, and found it utterly depressing. Obvi. That was the whole point of it! Allison’s post, 15 Things You May Not Have Known About A Little Life, was thoroughly intriguing, and even answered some questions I had while ploughing through the book.

If you ever found yourself thinking that blogging might have a negative effect on your reading, you might have something in common with Marta @ The Cursed Books.

Whether you are a seasoned Instagram veteran, or just starting to get the hang of it, you might find these awesome insta templates Elaine created super useful. My Instagram is frankly a mess, I don’t have a theme, or anything resembling order (story of my life, yeah), so this might come handy if I ever decide to clean up my act.

Inge @ The Belgian Reviewer had me over at her blog the other day for a little Q&A sesh. It was a lot of fun to answer her questions. If you ever wondered how many books I have, or what I do in my free time (when I’m not reading), head over there and check it out!

I love men with beards, atmospheric books and awesome reviews. If you do to, you might want to head over to The Beardy Book Blogger (a.k.a. Martin) and check out his outstanding, and thoroughly entertaining review of The Chalk Man. Bonus: you can also get a glimpse of his majestic beard! Just sayin’…

Is social media a curse or a blessing? It’s up for debate on Sophie’s blog, Beware of the Reader.

I don’t know about you guys, but I love a good villain! Often find them extremely relatable. But what is it about antiheroes we love so much? Beth @ Reading Every Night collected a great list of reasons.

  1. Morning! 😊 Yesterday was lovely eh? I also walked without my coat. 💃
Great post. I enjoyed your interview as well as those discussion post. I totally get your Stephen King obsession by the way! 😂
If social media is good / bad is an interesting question. I have an addictive personality and am very visual and had to quit Instagram as I just could not resist scrolling through all those visually stunning feeds whilst hours flew by.. so it wasn’t for me. I think it’s ok to use social media as a tool or as a way of connecting as long as it serves us and we are happy with its purpose.
All great posts, thanks for your recap / links. 😊👌

      1. Neaww, thanks 😊 I read your Q&A sesh and am with you on the King front. I need to revisit a lot of his books as I read a lot of them so long ago I’ve forgotten stuff. The classics, that is. Of his recent books I thought Dome and the Bill Hodges Trilogy were superb. I want to get the Kennedy one read soon (I can never remember that title 😅), and The Outsider when it’s released 👌🏼

  3. It’s snowing/raining over here (Canada). Insert eye roll!

Also, I am a TOTAL mood reader too – it’s why I generally have 5ish books on the go at all times. Then I can read whatever strikes my fancy!
    🙂

    1. Ugh, snow… i’m sorry 😦

I tend to read 1 book at a time, but i have started a fantasy one like 3 weeks ago, and read entire books between every couple chapters 😀

  4. The weather’s picking up here too so yesterday I got some flower pots and today I put them on my little terrace. They are fuschia pink and others more light rose so I’m happy :-). I want my reading spot outside to look nice too :-). Very cool links, some new as well so I’ll have to check them out. Thank you for the mention and thanks again for featuring on my blog. You’re a BFF now 🙂

    1. Aww, those flowers sound super nice! ❤ 🙂 I don't have a garden, only a shared one, and i don't have access to it (so i guess we can't really call it shared… 😀 ). But i live on the ground floor so at least i can see it through the window.

  5. Aww thank you so much !! Im happy yall liked that post of mine 🙂

On my side, well … Ive got a cold since Wednesday 😐 finally starting back to feel & look like a proper human again ahah, and just today got another “vet emergency” with my male dachshund again … don’t ask me HOW he did this one, but a minor deep wound appeared on his hip (chunk of skin/fur is removed..). Back again we go after having removed his sliced teeth to check that; only a matter of antibiotibc and watch for it being free of infection, possibly stitches.. but still.

  9. Supposed to be pretty outside but all we getting up here in Canada is freezing rain/snow this week. Feels like Winter is already in a rush to come back. Or maybe he never left… Can’t wait for warmer weathers though! 😀 I do spot some great bloggers and their awesome posts on here, and some that I sort of missed cause of busy times. Thanks for sharing these and making them all sound like must-reads! 😛
