Would You Rather…? The Spooky Edition, and 10 Scary Books To Spook You

The spooky season is well underway, and we haven’t had fun under the blankie yet. Until now!

Thanks for Heather, The Sassy Book Geek for tagging me.

Thrillers or Supernatural(s)?

I love thrillers, not so much supernatural stuff, so this one is a no-brainer. I take a thriller any day.

Ghosts or Zombies?

You mean meeting one or the other? I have to say ghosts then. There’s still a chance they are friendly. Zombies are just a violent, mindless bunch, pretty much like the lunch crowd in the coffee shop I used to work at.

Black coffee and ham sarnie, biatch!

Vampires or Werewolves?

You mean to be friends with? I’ll go out on a limb here, and I pick werewolves. Based on what I know about vampires, they wouldn’t be the best company to go to the beach with, or have morning coffee with at my favourite place. They would probably just want to hang out in shady bars after dark and go clubbing. The horror! If they are anything like how the vampire was in Let the Right One In, they would also not get along with my cat either, and that’s no bueno.

Witches or Demons?

Well, as much as I’d love to become a witch, when it comes to reading about either of them, I enjoy demons more. Just thinking about Tak, the demonic villain in Stephen King’s Desperation gives me proper chills.

Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters or a book with a black cat on the cover?

Have you met me? I’ll take the one with the kitty. Obviously.

Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?

I don’t like bright lights, so I’m going with some cinnamon scented candles. Also, if I can have any requests… can we make sure I’m alone in my candle lit dark room too?

Would you rather face your worst fears or be trapped in the mind of a killer?

Oh, well I don’t know… some of my worst fears could straight up kill me, so I’d rather not be dropped into a nest of poisonous snakes for instance, you know. On the other hand… when you say trapped in the mind of a killer… For how long? A day? A month? Forever? I need the specifics here.

Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?

I don’t like movies, so I’ll go with the scary book. Books don’t scare me though.

Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?

Or else?

Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?

I can’t read 10 books in a month, so…

For those of you who can, here are ten spooky and scary books. Have you read any of them yet?

I’ll tag…

  1. Definitely..
ghosts…they can scare you, but they cannot touch you
Vampires…they are charming and nocturnal creatures in need of iron supplements like me ..lol
Witches for sure! I am surrounded by them in my neighborhood so I know how to handle them.
    Great post! I love it!

I’d say thrillers and ghosts too! I’d rather read a scary book too because a movie is way too visual and then I would become so so paranoid of everything haha.

  3. Haha, the lunch crowd at the coffee shop have me laughing because I am picturing them walking in to the cafΓ©, like the zombies from Walking Dead. As for Vampires with the clubbing and stuff, yeah they wouldn’t make great companions. Plus, they do tend to be mega dramatic when you open the curtains during the day. Too restrictive. What a fun post!

  4. Ha! Ha! I love reading your answer to these Q&As, I always end up nearly snorting drink across my keyboard. And I imagine if you got trapped in the mind of killer, they’d be screaming at the FBI to arrest them, and evict you! *snort* And I’ve yet to read a book that scared me, but movies? Hmm …

  6. Now that’s a fun tag (any tag that doesn’t ask for book titles is fun but this one is even funner). I’m such a wuss and I think it’ll show when I do the tag πŸ™‚ but I don’t care. I read Birdbox which was a good read, lots of suggestion so yes scary enough for me. I have the Joe Hill novel on my readlist and I heard about Hex so might give that a chance too. I finished reading The Lingering which insinuates and suggests as well so that was a real spooky Halloween read for me πŸ™‚

    • Ah, Lingering does sound pretty good, and i’m going to check it out for sure πŸ˜€
Haven’t actually read Bird Box yet, but saw yesterday that a movie is coming out, so need to read that soon too.

I hope you’ll like the Joe Hill book. I thought it was really good!

  8. Duma Key & Bird Box are still on my to read-list πŸ™‚

I’ve read ‘The Girl with all the Gifts’ but didn’t find it very scary. Still a good book though, I enjoyed it! Not what I expected when I picked it up though haha

    • I usually find those post apocalyptic books more stressful than scary, but basically they have the same effect on me πŸ˜€

I still also need to read Bird Box. There will a movie soon.

  9. I got totally distracted by that kitty. I want a huge-eyed kitten like that. I neeeed it. Don’t care I’m allergic to them. :’)

I’d definitely go with werewolves as well. If only because they don’t suck your blood – for starters – but.. when you’re cold they can just turn and by your fluffy heater! Like.. Talk about perfect?

    • Aww πŸ™‚ My kitty has big eyes, but most often than not he just looks dopey πŸ˜€

A fluffy cuddle buddy would be most ideal for this season πŸ˜€ Love it!

  11. The zombie gif killed me, but the kitty one is adorable. I wanted to hugh that fluffy thing so bad! I would still prefer a vampire, because werewolfs, if we really follow the most classic tale, they would get out of control. While with a vampire I could find an arrangment, I think.

    • Haha, yea… like someone mentioned earlier in the comments, with a vampire you just open the curtains in the morning. Good tactic if they misbehave πŸ˜€

I’d hug that kitty too if i ever came across him πŸ˜€

  14. So fun! And yeah, I can’t say I’ve ever been properly scared by a book. Creeped out, disturbed, grossed out? Yes. Not scared. Movies are another story, and I’m too old to lose sleep over a scary movie, so I’ll stick with the books. πŸ˜‰
