7 Random Facts About Norrie – One Lovely Blog Award

Howzit!

Did someone say it’s award time? Well, the lovely Kaleena sure did! So, thanks to her, you are hereby presented with a list of 7 random things about me.

#1 As much as I love espresso, and in spite of having an espresso machine, I mostly drink instant coffee. It’s pure laziness, you see. Instant coffee requires the least amount of clean up, and I like to take the path of least resistance. Also, the instant coffee I buy comes in all kinds of nice flavours, like toffee, cinnamon & hazelnut, mint or chocolate & orange, and I’m a sucker for those.

#2 I’m really useless when it comes to make up, and haven’t worn any for at least five years. Every now and then I try some mascara, but most of the time I forget about it.

#3 My latest obsession is chicken salad for dinner. I don’t normally like chicken (because it tastes like paper) or leaves (because they taste like leaves, duh…), but finally found a combination that’s not completely yucky.

#4 I get annoyed when a restaurant describes their food as home made. Like, fucking hell, if I want to eat home made food, I just stay at home and cook. When I got to a restaurant, I expect something better. Something I couldn’t just whip up in my own kitchen.

#5 I have these recurring nightmares lately in which I dream that I’m sleeping and can’t wake up. They are quite specific. Like, if I’m napping in the living room, my dream takes place there, and if I’m in the bedroom, the dream sleeping is happening there. Spooky.

#6 I have size 3 feet. If you are not familiar with UK sizes, it’s very small. Like, tiny.

#7 I’m watching Homecoming at the moment and have a tiny crush on Stephan James, the dude who plays Walter Cruz.

Well, that’s it, guys!

If you want to try my chicken salad, here’s how you make it.

♥Chicken breast
♥Half an avocado. Or a whole. Whatever.
A handful of tiny tomatoes. Or a lot. I can’t eat more than a few, or my stomach feels like it’s caught on fire.
♥A tiny cup of sweetcorn. (By tiny I mean the cup I use for double espresso. It’s a bit big for it, so… Just put some sweetcorn.)
♥Bacon. Two slices. Without the fatty part.
♥Spinach. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice on this too.
♥Random mixed leaves. Enough to cover your plate and make it look like you actually tried making a salad. Splash some olive oil on them.
♥Feta cheese. Now I wouldn’t suggest putting a shitload, but you are an adult, you can decide for yourself.
♥A few pieces of fresh tarragon

Honey-mustard dressing
♥A teaspoon(ish) grainy mustard
♥A dash of olive oil
♥A squeeze of lemon
♥A tablespoon of honey

  1. Oh, you AND Christina nominated me for this one! LOL Thanks Sweetie. And I’m like you when it comes to the coffee. We’re sooo lazy. We have two machines but what do we drink? Instant. Doh!

And what size are your feet? Dear me, you and Christina are a pair. I have huge feet by your standards, 6.5 in UK or 8.5 here in Canada and I’m only 5′ 5″ tall! Hey, what’s with the weird dream? That’s kind of scary. Do you have sleep apnea? Oh, and more food, yummy. Ta muchly!

    1. Haha, same. Have an espresso machine, a nespresso, french press and drip maker, but ya know, ain’t nobody’s cleaning up after me, so i just don’t use them 😀

I don’t think i have sleep apnea, but gonna have to mention these dreams to my therapist… he always has ideas 😀

  2. Aww tiny feet’s! But cheaper shoes – can you wear kids ones? And your chicken salad sounds yum! x

  3. Brilliant post, I have several coffee machines as well as instant 😀 my goodness you have tiny feet, mine are giant in comparison size 8 UK 😳 love the way you have done your recipe 😂

  4. I’m a fail at make-up myself. Sometimes it feels like I’m the only person that can’t do a good cat’s eye even with a tutorial 🙂 I mostly don’t bother. But I am so going to steal that salad recipe!

    1. Last time i tried a cat eye i ended up looking like something between amy winehouse and the joker :/

Hope you’ll like the salad if you make it 🙂

  5. That chicken salad sounds amazing (see, Norrie!? Your posts have made me hungry again. 😂), and I’m a 3.5-4 for my shoe size (5.5-6 for US shoes)! I joke around with my sister and say that my Cinderella size feet just mean I’m destined to marry a prince someday. 💁🏻‍♀️

  6. I am lazy about coffee as well. I use coffee bags – those ones that have ‘artisan’ and ‘biodegradable’ written on them but let’s face it, they are nowhere as good as the coffee I get from a good barista. ‘Homemade cooking’ signs on restaurant doors make me laugh out right and I have also size 3 (UK) feet. 😉 I am quite happy about it as I can buy some cool size 3 sneakers in children variety that are often much cheaper… people do laugh at me when I take out my climbing shoes though, they are size 2 (climbing shoes are usually a bit smaller than regular shoes). With my tiny feet though, every tiny foothold appears much bigger to me… there are benefits to having tiny feet… 🙂

Thanks for the nomination, I have been missing a bit from blogosphere as I just started my coaching course and am processing / feeling a bit overwhelmed but will be back soon. ❤️

    1. Oh, i never tried coffee bags. I have a filter in my espresso machine where i can put those, but we also have the nespresso, so figured it’s kinda the same thing.

Yay, another tiny feet person! ❤ I never bought kids shoes, but maybe i should look at them for trainers at least.

  7. Congrats on the award! What a fun article too! That chicken salad looks delicious! I loved Homecoming on Amazon. Really great new series. I heard there’s going to be a 2nd Season, so yeah for that!

      1. I loved the way the show ended, there was a real sense of hope. All I’ve heard for Season 2 is that Julia Roberts isn’t going to be on it. I’m thinking that there might be a new story completely with a new cast, but who knows, LoL.

  8. #5 sounds scary!
Since the dream happens where you are actually sleeping, your ‘nightmare’ sounds like either you’re trapped in sleep paralysis, or may be on the verge of lucid dreaming (which would be awesome!). Do you have trouble breathing in these dreams?

  9. Haha, this post cracked me up! I totally agree with you about chicken and leaves: normally they both taste like crap. Fried chicken can taste good at times, but since it’s fried it also kills you with diabetes. So that’s kind of a downer.

You know, if you’re never going to use your espresso machine I could take it off your hands for you; I’ve long coveted the ability to make my own espresso shots. Kidding, sort of…

  10. Mmm the chicken salad looks fantastic, Norrie! Fun toppings! & I love that you made your own dressing. I’m gonna try making it too since I have all the ingredients. 🙂

Ooh & I get those dreams you desribed in #5 a lot. So much so that I have trained myself to sometimes be able to yell at myself to wake up in real life… it’s really creepy, I know…

  11. Yikes, those dreams of yours definitely sound unnerving. I get really vivid and horrific nightmares a lot but somehow what you described sounds even creepier!
I think I’ll be making a salad for lunch today now after seeing your post. I’ve got an avocado I have to use and salad sounds really good. Though I laughed at the part about the taste of leaves. 😛 One of the packaged salad blends I pick up sometimes has herbs mixed in with the leafy greens and it adds a lot of really nice flavor to the salad.

  12. #5 – Those are the worst! I’ve had them where I dream that I’ve woken up only to realize that I haven’t and become even more distressed that I can’t. Like what on earth is happening with your brain that you tell it “I don’t like this anymore, so let’s wake up”, and it’s like “but I’m the one who really decides, and I say…NO!” I mean, that’s for the birds, really. And kind of scary if you think about it too long.

  13. Nice to know more about you, Norrie! I don’t use make-up neither since I lived in Africa, where the temperature around 40C didn’t make it comfortable anyway…
Chicken was tasteless for me too, until I started experimenting with marinades. You should give the honey in you cupboard a chance to spice it up some with whatever spices and herbs you’ve got available!
Small feet are pretty, but you must have difficulty finding shoes! I had a friend who had to buy children’s shoes and was desperate about finding something with heels!

  14. Always thought that size 3 feet were the norm for women until I grew up and found out that size 5 is more the norm. Was so shocked. I think New Look is one of the few places who manage to get size 3 just right.

Nice to see Little Friend there, been meaning to read it, hope you’ve enjoyed it. 🙂

    1. I know, same! I come from a long line of women with size 3 😀
New Look, good point! Ever since the shop near me closed down i kinda forgot about them.
