Get Ready For Summer With These 5 Books

28th May 2019 by Norrie

The countdown has began! Summer on the Northern hemisphere will officially begin on 21st June. I don’t know if we’ll get lucky with the weather here in the UK, but it never hurts to be prepared. You know, just in case we can finally ditch the jacket and maybe we get a chance to sit in an outdoor cafe somewhere, chilling and reading. Some books just scream summer. There’s something about the story, like an exotic setting, or perhaps the […]

I Can’t Even… The 10 Best Books I Read In 2018

28th Dec 2018 by Norrie

I’ve never in my life managed to read as many books as I did this year. 106 until now, and we still have three days left. The plot thickens! I’m still wondering how I actually pulled this off, because I’m still watching TV series and true crime documentaries like my life depended on it, I went on holidays and hung out with my friends like before. Must be the insomnia or something. If I’m honest, I’d rather be sleeping. #1 […]

What’s On My Bookshelf? Mess, That’s What…

12th Dec 2018 by Norrie

I love colour coordinated bookshelves, adorned with knick-knacks and all kind of cool stuff. Mine are nothing like that. Books are organized mostly by genre, sometimes colours, and one of my shelves holds a plushy that is basically a piece of poo. Anyway, Morgana tagged me to reveal what else I have on my shelves, apart from the poo thing of course, so here we are. A library book Shocking revelation… I haven’t set foot in a library for 15 […]

I Spy With My Little Eyes… Yes, It’s Books

11th Jun 2018 by Norrie

Kathy, who often inspires me to read random, and sometimes unexpected books with her monthly themes, this time challenged me and some fellow bloggers with the I Spy Book Challenge. The aim is to find books with certain things on the cover or in the title, one for each prompt, within five minutes. To put my own spin on things, I decided to pick from books I own in a printed version. Of course it took me ages, but here […]

A Book Set At Sea

1st Jun 2018 by Norrie

I love the sea, and I love spending time at the seaside. That said, I’ve never been on a cruise, or spent significant time on the waters, and I’m not sure how I would cope with it to be honest. The dangers and the vast nothingness out there is somewhat frightening and I don’t think I could put up with spending days on end on a boat or ship without going a bit nuts. The 25th reading prompt for the […]

An Abundance of YA & Contemporary – Book Haul #5

4th May 2018 by Norrie

Well, well, well… I think I’ve built up quite a reputation in my local charity shop. I’d go as far as to say I’m a regular customer now, and always manage to leave with an armful of books after my weekly visits. These past few weeks I managed to score a bunch of YA and contemporary books I’ve been eyeing for a while (and some I haven’t). Let’s see the loot! After I finished Eleanor & Park, I decided I […]

Reading Prompt: The next book in a series you started #3

23rd Apr 2018 by Norrie

I’m a notorious series-abandoner. Even the ones I actually like get dropped like hot potatoes, because I always feel like I need to take a break and then get distracted by other books. I have a few of these neglected darlings on my list, and this is the perfect time to pick them up again. When I say series, I mean those books that actually end with some sort of a cliffhanger, and you need to read the next book […]

Shit Got Out Of Hand – Book Haul #4

9th Apr 2018 by Norrie

Well, sure as hell, this lady – this one here, the one with the blankie – has got some issues. Like for instance she’s got no impulse control to speak of. None whatsoever. I mean, who goes on to Amazon and ends up with 44 books in the span of about two days? What-what? In case you haven’t guessed, yours truly, that’s who. But of course, it’s spring sale time, and Amazon had some awesome monthly deals for Kindle in March […]

Reading Prompt: True crime #2

28th Mar 2018 by Norrie

I don’t read true crime. I watch it. Devour it. I have spent many hours in front of my screen, binge watching true crime documentaries in glassy eyed silence, engrossed in stories of gruesome murders and senseless killings. I find human nature equally fascinating and horrifying. “No other genre is a more apt testament that our evil, primal, fearful selves linger just beneath our calm, civilised exteriors, that life goes on even after the worst has happened, and that all […]

Norrie

Book lover, cat hugger, coffee drinker, wiseass, capable of eating half a cheesecake in one sitting. Best not to approach before she had her breakfast. Loves a good thriller, but would probably not touch romance with a stick. Based on the amount of crime fiction she’s read, could probably solve a crime. Or not, but she would certainly try. Loves science fiction and secretly dreams about joining the Starfleet since she was fourteen. Hates ignorance and anything with coriander. Doesn’t operate well below 25 degree Celsius.
